The ‘Lunatic Country Music Person’ T-Shirt By Maren Morris Has Raised Over $100,000 For Transgender Causes.
Following negative comments made about her on Fox News’ Tucker Carlson Tonight, Maren Morris is raising a lot of money for transgender causes.
Morris was called out by a conservative commenter on Thursday (Sept. 1) for her feud with Jason Aldean’s wife, Brittany, over a transphobic joke. Carlson referred to Morris as a “lunatic” and a “fake country music singer” during an interview with Brittany Aldean.
Morris is having the last laugh, as she has emblazoned the offensive moniker onto a T-shirt and is selling it on her website to raise funds for the LGBTQ rights organisation GLAAD. Morris’ name is printed in white letters on the black tee, along with the words “Lunatic Country Music Person” and the phone number for a peer support and crisis hotline for trans youth.
Brittany Aldean was chastised in late August for an Instagram makeup video she posted with the caption, “I’d really like to thank my parents for not changing my gender when I was in my tomboy phase.” “I adore my girly life.”
Pope responded, “You’d think celebs with beauty brands would see the benefits of including LGBTQ+ people in their messaging.” Instead, we’re hearing someone compare their “tomboy phase” to someone who wants to transition. Very nice.” Morris agreed with Pope’s tweet, writing, “It’s so easy to, like, not be a scumbag human?” Insurrection Barbie, sell your clip-ins and go.”
After some back and forth, Brittany insisted that her words had been “taken out of context,” and later told Carlson that she is “advocating for children.”
