Flume Marks The 10th Anniversary Of His Debut With A Track That “Never Quite Made It Onto An Album”

Flume’s self-titled debut album, released a decade ago, was his first collection of sonic species. To commemorate the occasion, the Sydney producer opens the vault and releases “Slugger 1.4 [2014 Export.WAV],” a sprawling track with a belting beat and all the fades and feelings of old-school Flume that never found a place.

Flume’s debut album, Flume, was a critical and financial triumph, debuting at No. 1 on the ARIA Chart, receiving the J Award for Australian album of the year, and launching him onto the world’s largest stages.

Flume would drastically alter his sound to avoid being copied because the record was so influential.

Flume’s 2016 LP Skin received the Grammy Award for best dance/electronic album, the ARIA Award for album of the year, and its debut single “Never Be Like You” reached number one on triple j’s Hottest 100 countdown.

Skin, like its predecessor, reached No. 1 in Australia, but it also provided the electronic music sensation his first top 10 success in the United States, peaking at No. 8 on the Billboard 200 chart. According to reps, his 59-date globe tour in support of the album sold over 300,000 tickets.
