Miley Cyrus Strives To Break The Record For The Most-Streamed Song On Spotify In A Week With “Flowers”
Again, give her the entire bouquet! The second week in a row, Miley Cyrus’ “Flowers” was the most streamed song in Spotify history as of Thursday (Jan. 26).
The major streaming service announced the news on Twitter with the caption “It’s official…
The record was broken by @MileyCyrus on January 26, making “#Flowers” the song with the most Spotify streams in a week.
Although Spotify withheld particular figures, the smash song first achieved the feat in the week of January 19, making Cyrus’ ability to surpass herself for a second straight week after also making her Billboard Hot 100 debut in the preceding period at No. 1 all the more astounding.
According to Luminate, Cyrus’ entire discography, from “Wrecking Ball” to “Midnight Sky,” made a truly remarkable 65 percent gain in the week ending January 19 — from 20.7 weekly million official on-demand U.S. streams to 34.2 million. The success of “Flowers” has also helped all the other songs in her proverbial garden of hits. It also increased the number of streams for Bruno Mars’ “If I Was Your Man,” which “Flowers” subtly riffs on without stealing any of the melody from the top-charting torch song.
Following the song’s ascent to the top spot, Cyrus thanked her followers on Twitter, writing, “Thankful that Flowers is Number 1 throughout the world. This song is a dedication to my followers and a wish for everyone of you for unwavering self-love. Thank you very much, Miley.
