Aaron Carter, Singer And brother Of Backstreet Boys’ Nick Carter, Passed Away At The Age Of 34.
Aaron Carter, the younger brother of Backstreet Boys member Nick Carter and a singer and television personality, died on Saturday (Nov. 5). He was 34.
His death was confirmed by a spokesperson from his management team to Billboard and The Hollywood Reporter. There was no mention of a cause of death. A spokeswoman for the Los Angeles Police Department informed THR that a suspicious death occurred at Carter’s address but that the identification could not be confirmed.
Carter’s brother’s representatives did not immediately reply to a request for comment.
Aaron’s Party (Come and Get It), his follow-up album, was released in September 2000. Aaron’s Party charted at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 and was certified triple platinum. It included the singles “I Want Candy” and “Aaron’s Party (Come Get It)” (No. 35) as well as two Billboard Hot 100 hits, “That’s How I Beat Shaq” (No (No. 95). On the Oops!… I Did It Again Tour, he performed as an opening act for Backstreet Boys and Britney Spears.
Carter’s third album, Oh Aaron, was certified platinum in 2001, and he has since released two albums, the most recent of which was Love in 2018.
He dabbled in acting, appearing on shows such as Lizzie McGuire, Sabrina, the Teenage Witch, and 7th Heaven, as well as in films such as Fat Albert (2004) and Supercross, starring Channing Tatum (2005). Carter made his Broadway debut in 2001 as JoJo the Who in Seussical the Musical, and he then starred in the off-Broadway version of The Fantasticks for a long time.
Carter also made a number of unscripted TV appearances, including a 2006 appearance on the E! series House of Carters alongside Nick and their siblings B.J., Aaron, Leslie, and Angel Carter. Leslie, 25, died of a heroin overdose in January 2012.
Among his other television appearances, he competed on ABC’s Dancing With the Stars in 2009, finishing sixth, and on the Food Network cooking competition series Rachael vs. Guy: Celebrity Cook-Off in 2012.
Carter was a staple on gossip sites and was recognised for headlines about his personal life dating back to his days as a teen heartthrob. In November 2021, he and Melanie Martin had their son Prince.
The actor has been honest about his issues with substance misuse throughout the years, including on a 2017 episode of The Doctors. In September 2022, he stated that he had entered rehab for the seventh time in an attempt to regain custody of his son. He had previously undergone treatment in 2017 after being arrested on allegations of DUI and drug possession.
Carter stated earlier this month in an interview with podcast No Jumper that was broadcast to YouTube that he was appreciative for all of his previous accomplishments and remained hopeful for the future, though he wasn’t worried with earning greater popularity.
“I enjoyed it all, and I’m back to do it – that’s what I’m back to do,” Carter said of his return to music. “I don’t really care about [stardom] because I’ve been through so many levels in the profession, fame and money, highs and lows — it’s like a roller coaster.” … I’m a singer, songwriter, and performer, and this is what I do, and I’ll never give up.”
