After Tucker Carlson Calls Maren Morris A ‘Lunatic,’ She Gets A ‘New Profile Pic.’

Fox News’ Tucker Carlson chastised Maren Morris for her feud with Jason Aldean’s wife, Brittany, over a transphobic joke.

The country singer captioned a headline from Brittany Aldean’s Tucker Carlson interview with “#NewProfilePic.” During the interview, Carlson referred to Morris as a “lunatic” and a “fake country music singer” without displaying the headline.

Brittany elaborated on her thoughts on transgender youth and their right to gender-affirming care in an Instagram Stories statement on Friday, August 26. “One of the most heinous crimes is advocating for child genital mutilation under the guise of love and calling it “gender affirming care.” ‘I will always support my children and do everything in my power to protect their innocence,’ she wrote. “Memphis wanted to be a dinosaur yesterday, and Navy wants to be a cat tomorrow. They are underage. Some parents are so desperate for social acceptance that they are willing to make life-changing decisions for their children who are too young to fully comprehend the consequences. Love means protecting your child until they are old enough to make their own decisions.” I’m grateful that my parents let me go through my tomboy phase without forcing me to change my gender.”

Many people perceived Aldean’s social media posts to be transphobic, and they drew criticism from members of the country music community, including Morris and Pope.

Pope responded by tweeting, “You’d think that celebrities with beauty brands would see the value in including LGBTQ+ people in their messaging. But here we are, listening to someone compare their “tomboy phase” to a transitioning person. Very nice.”

Morris responded to Pope’s tweet with, “Isn’t it so simple to not be a scumbag human? Rebel Barbie, sell your clip-ins and shut up.”

After some back-and-forth between the three women, Brittany insisted that her words were “taken out of context,” and later told Carlson that she is “advocating for children.”

She went on, “Children should not be allowed to make such life-altering decisions at such a young age, in my opinion. They should have parents who love and support them despite their lack of maturity. Every object has an age assigned to it. It exists for smoking, driving, the military, and voting… Nonetheless, some people believe that allowing a child to choose their gender at such a young age is acceptable. It’s completely perplexing to me.”

Transgender people are people whose gender does not match their assigned sex at birth. Gender identity differs from gender expression, such as “tomboy.”

Transgender children in their prepubescent years can frequently initiate a social transition by changing their name and pronouns or adopting an identity-appropriate appearance. It is also legal to change the names and genders on identification documents. Prior to the onset of puberty, transgender children are not offered puberty blockers or hormone treatments, and gender-affirming genital surgery is generally not recommended before the age of 18.
