Amy Grant Has Cancelled Additional Tour Dates Owing To A Concussion Suffered In A Biking Accident.

Amy Grant has cancelled previously scheduled September and October gigs in order to recover from injuries sustained in a bicycle accident on July 27.

“We took the difficult choice to postpone her fall tour so she could focus on her recuperation,” her management said.

“Amy is growing stronger every day,” said Grant’s manager, Jennifer Cooke. We are as amazed as we were after her heart surgery at how quickly she rebounds. Despite her improved health, we’ve decided to postpone her fall tour so she may focus on her recovery and strengthen her stamina. We do not expect her to be ready to perform at her best by the start of fall rehearsals.”

Grant was hospitalised after collapsing while on a bike ride with friends in Nashville, according to Billboard. Grant was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. Despite this, Grant suffered a concussion as well as other injuries and abrasions in the fall.

“Amy would like to express her gratitude for the numerous well wishes and prayers she has received since the accident,” Cooke said. She senses the community’s goodwill extending to her.

The new concert dates are February through April 2023, and tickets are still valid.

Grant is one of five Kennedy Center Honors awardees this year, along with George Clooney, Gladys Knight, composer, conductor, and educator Tania León, and the music group U2. The Honors Gala will be held on Sunday, December 4 at Washington, D.C.’s John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. It will be taped for later broadcast on CBS (usually late December).

This year also commemorates the 25th anniversary of Grant’s 1997 album Behind the Eyes, and to commemorate the event, Grant will release a 30-song triple vinyl album on September 9.

Grant will return to the road for her forthcoming Christmas tour with Michael W. Smith, as well as her yearly residency at the Ryman with her husband and fellow singer Vince Gill, according to Cooke. Gill had earlier cancelled three shows in response to Grant’s accident.
