Beck Is No Longer The Tour Opener For Arcade Fire.

Beck will no longer be the opening act on Arcade Fire’s upcoming North American tour, according to Billboard. Instead, he will be replaced by the Haitian band Boukman Eksperyans.

While Beck did not give a reason for his departure, it comes just months after sexual misconduct allegations were levelled against Arcade Fire frontman Win Butler. The allegations against Butler were first reported by Pitchfork on August 27. The report detailed the accounts of four people who claimed to have had inappropriate sexual interactions with Butler, one of whom claimed that the singer assaulted them; he has denied that any of the alleged incidents were nonconsensual.

Pitchfork’s report included a statement from Butler, in addition to the testimonies of his alleged victims. In it, the musician claims that all of his relationships outside of his marriage to Arcade Fire bandmate Régine Chassagne have been consensual, and that his wife is aware of them.

“Our marriage has been more unconventional than some in the past,” he wrote. “I’ve met people in person, at shows, and on social media, and I’ve shared messages about which I’m not proud.” Most importantly, each of these interactions has been mutual and has always occurred between consenting adults. Anyone who suggests otherwise is deeply revisionist, and frankly, just wrong.”

“I have never touched a woman against her will,” he continued, “and any implication that I have is simply false.” “I categorically deny that I forced myself on a woman or demanded sexual favours.” That simply and unequivocally did not occur.”

“While these relationships were all voluntary, I am deeply sorry to anyone I have offended with my behaviour,” he added. “Life is full of mistakes and pain, and I never want to be a part of causing someone else’s pain.”
