According to Luminate, BLACKPINK’s second full-length studio album, Born Pink, debuts at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart (dated Oct. 1), with 102,000 equivalent album units earned in the United States in the week ending Sept. 22. The eight-song collection is an all-female group’s first Billboard 200 No. 1 since 2008.

Born Pink is the South Korean quartet’s second top ten single, following The Album, which debuted and peaked at No. 2 in October 2020. Furthermore, Born Pink is the third South Korean album to top the Billboard 200 in 2022, following BTS’ Proof and Stray Kids’ Stray Kids Mini Album: Oddinary. (Unlike those two albums, which are mostly in Korean, Born Pink is mostly in English, though it contains some Korean lyrics.)

The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week in the United States based on Luminate’s compilation of multi-metric consumption as measured in equivalent album units. Album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA), and streaming equivalent albums are all counted as units (SEA). Each unit represents one album sale, ten individual album tracks sold, or 3,750 ad-supported or 1,250 paid/subscription on-demand official audio and video streams generated by album songs. On September 27, the new chart for October 1, 2022 will be available in its entirety on Billboard’s website. Follow @billboard and @billboardcharts on Twitter and Instagram for all chart news.

Born Pink’s 102,000 equivalent album units are made up of 75,500 album sales, 25,000 SEA units (equaling 37.49 million on-demand official streams of the set’s songs), and 1,500 TEA units.

Born Pink is the first No. 1 album by a female group on the Billboard 200 since Danity Kane’s second album, Welcome to the Dollhouse, debuted at No. 1 on the chart on April 5, 2008.

Born Pink debuts at No. 1 on the Top Album Sales chart as well, with the seventh-largest sales week of any album in 2022 — 75,500 copies sold. 85% (64,000) were CD sales, while 15% were digital album sales (11,500). Other configurations of the set were not available (such as vinyl LP or cassette).

The album’s CD version was released in collectible packages (17 in total, including exclusive variants for Target and the group’s official webstore), each with a standard set of internal paper items and randomised elements (such as photocards, postcards and stickers). Among them were four different cover art editions, one for each member of the band. The availability of signed editions of the album (the four cover variants) in the group’s webstore and at independent record stores, where each of the four versions was signed by its corresponding member, helped boost CD sales.

NCT 127’s 2 Baddies debuts at No. 3 on the Billboard 200, marking the South Korean pop group’s third top-10 debut. It matches the act’s previous chart high, set with Sticker: The 3rd Album, which debuted and peaked at No. 3 on the Oct. 2, 2021-dated list.

2 Baddies debuted with 58,500 equivalent album units. Album sales account for 55,500 of that total; SEA units account for 3,000 (equaling 3.85 million on-demand official streams of the set’s 12 songs); and TEA units account for a negligible amount.

The 2 Baddies CD configuration was released in collectible deluxe packages (eight in total, including a Target-exclusive edition), each with a standard set of items and randomised elements (like photocards and posters). The availability of deluxe box set editions packaged with branded merchandise such as shirts, hats, and tote bags also boosted sales. The CD accounted for nearly all of its sales for the week (a little less than 1,000 were sold via digital download); the set was not released in any other physical format.

The CD digipack edition of 2 Baddies will be available in nine different cover variations (one for each of the group’s members), each with a standard set of paper goods and randomised photocards, on October 7.

Dangerous: Morgan Wallen’s debut album The Double Album debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard 200, earning 48,000 equivalent album units (down 3%).

Dangerous: The Double Album has now spent 88 weeks in the top ten of the Billboard 200. It now has the sixth-most weeks in the top ten among all albums since the chart began publishing weekly in March 1956.
