During Her 2015 AMAs Performance, Meghan Trainor Ridicules Her Kiss With Charlie Puth.
Meghan Trainor joined the trending TikTok video on Tuesday about how she regrets kissing Charlie Puth in 2015.
The “Bad for Me” singer used the internet sensation “Hal Walker Plays the Banakulas” to twerk her way through a celebration of her career highlights, including the Billboard Hot 100 number one debut of “All About That Bass” and her 2016 Grammy for best new artist.
“Making the decision to kiss Charlie Puth on national television in 2015,” a screen reads, while Trainor grimaces at the camera and says, “Two wads of masking tape tied together with a pink ribbon.” (Believe us when we say the lip sync is appropriate for the situation.)
Trainor is referring to the 2015 American Music Awards, where she performed her smash hit “Like I’m Gonna Lose You” with Charlie Puth of Nine Track Mind, who sang the sultry ode to adolescent lust “Marvin Gaye.” The audience applauded as Puth emerged from behind the piano, Trainor beckoned him closer, and the two exchanged a passionate kiss.
Despite the fact that the music video for the song features the singers locking lips, both stars insisted at the time that they were just friends and collaborators. Trainor recently married actor Daryl Sabara (Spy Kids) and is gearing up to release her fifth studio album, Takin’ It Back, on October 21. Charlie Puth’s album, simply titled Charlie, will be released two weeks earlier, on October 7
