Ezra Miller Is Seeking Help For “Complex Mental Health Issues
Ezra Miller says they are seeking treatment for “complex mental health issues” after their disturbing behavior resulted in charges of harassment and felony burglary, as well as assault and abuse allegations.
Because of a recent “time of intense crisis,” Miller has “understood that he is suffering from complex mental health issues and has begun ongoing treatment,” according to his rep. I sincerely apologize to anyone I have ever been scared or upset with my actions. I will go to any length to return to a state of health, safety, and productivity.
Miller’s announcement follows a year in which he has been embroiled in controversy.
Miller, who uses the pronouns they/them, was arrested twice in Hawaii: once in March for disorderly conduct and harassment after an incident at a karaoke bar, and again in April for an alleged assault in which he is accused of striking a woman on the head at a private residence. The parents of an 18-year-old girl filed a restraining order against Miller, alleging that the actor had been sexually grooming their daughter since she was 12 years old. (In an Instagram post, the child denied being coerced by Miller.) Miller, a Vermont resident, was recently charged with felony burglary after allegedly stealing alcohol from an empty house in the area in May.
Miller’s most high-profile project, the DC title The Flash, is in jeopardy after a string of scandals. According to THR, Warner Bros. is considering a variety of strategies for the costly film, including reducing Miller’s promotional activities and, in the worst-case scenario, canceling the film entirely. At the time, it was reported that Warner Bros. had received indications that 29-year-old Miller, whose mother had begun accompanying the actor, would seek professional help.
