Feist Is Donating The Proceeds From The Arcade Fire Show’s Merchandise To Women’s Aid Dublin
On Tuesday night (Aug. 30), Feist opened for Arcade Fire’s WE tour kickoff in Dublin, Ireland, and the singer-songwriter is donating her merch proceeds to a good cause.
A sign next to a t-shirt at the merch booth in a photo circulating on Twitter reads, “All proceeds from Feist merchandise will be donated to Women’s Aid Dublin.” Billboard later confirmed Feist’s donation to the organisation, which works to protect women and children from domestic violence, provides support and assistance to women who have been abused, and seeks justice and social change.
The announcement comes just days after four people accused Arcade Fire’s Win Butler of sexual misconduct. In a report published on Saturday (Aug. 27) by Pitchfork, three female Arcade Fire fans and a fourth person who is gender-fluid and uses they/them pronouns claimed that they had inappropriate sexual interactions with Butler when they were between the ages of 18 and 23; one claimed that Butler sexually assaulted them. The alleged incidents allegedly occurred between 2015 and 2020.
Butler stated in a statement to the publication that the extramarital relationships were mutual. “I adore Régine with my entire heart.” We’ve been together for twenty years; she’s my musical and life partner, my soulmate, and I consider myself fortunate and grateful to have her by my side. But it’s been difficult at times to strike a balance between being the father, husband, and bandmate that I want to be. “Today, I’d like to clear the air about my life, poor judgement, and mistakes,” he said in a statement. “Outside of my marriage, I’ve had consensual relationships.” There is no easy way to say this, and having to share this with my son is the most difficult thing I have ever done. The majority of these relationships were brief, and my wife is well aware that our marriage has been more unconventional than others.”
