Gypsy Rose Blanchard’s Early Prison Release: Husband’s ‘Hitman’ License Plate Pickup
Gypsy Rose Blanchard, who served eight years for the 2015 murder of her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard, was granted parole earlier this year. On Thursday, she was released from Chillicothe Correctional Center in Missouri at 3:30 a.m. local time.
Wrestling Fan’s Unique Pickup
Gypsy’s husband, Ryan Scott Anderson, a wrestling fan, picked her up in Missouri. Notably, the car he used had a Bret Hart license plate with the word “HITMAN.”
Gypsy’s Journey From Victim to Convict
Gypsy and her then-boyfriend, Nick Godejohn, were charged with murder following the stabbing death of her mother. Gypsy pleaded guilty in 2016 and received a 10-year prison sentence. She married Anderson, a Louisiana special education teacher, while behind bars last year.
Munchausen by Proxy Revelations
Before her arrest, Gypsy was believed to be suffering from serious health ailments, but it is now widely believed she was a victim of Munchausen by proxy. Her mother had convinced others that Gypsy was terminally ill, subjecting her to unnecessary medical treatments.
Gypsy’s Reflection on her Mother’s Fate
In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE before her release, Gypsy expressed remorse for her actions. She now believes her mother “deserved to be where I am, sitting in prison doing time for criminal behavior.”
Future Plans and a Docuseries
Upon her release, Gypsy expressed eagerness to be with her husband, stating, “we’re in love.” She is set to share her story in the new Lifetime docuseries, “The Prison Confessions of Gypsy Rose Blanchard,” premiering on January 5.
