Homewood Middle School Cheerleaders Make Debut At Disney Thanksgiving Parade

Homewood Middle School is set to make its first-ever appearance at the Orlando Thanksgiving Tour parade, organized by the Universal Cheerleading Association (UCA). Taking place from Nov. 21 to Nov. 24 at the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida, this marks a significant milestone for the school’s cheerleading squad.

Spotlight on Eighth Grade Cheerleaders: Kate Parsons and Annah Lilly Conklin

Two eighth-grade cheerleaders from Homewood Middle School, Kate Parsons and Annah Lilly Conklin, both UCA All-American cheerleaders, secured the opportunity to perform in the parade after successful tryouts at a UCA camp.

Team Mickey: Alabama Cheerleaders Take the Stage

The parade features cheerleaders from 25 states, divided into two teams: Team Minnie and Team Mickey. Kate and Annah Lilly, representing Alabama, will perform as part of Team Mickey on Wednesday, Nov. 22, at 2:20 p.m. Eastern (1:20 p.m. Central).

Parade Route and Duration

The parade, lasting approximately 40 minutes, will wind its way from Frontier Land through the park, concluding on Main Street, USA. Annah Lilly Conklin, with a background in cheerleading, expresses her excitement about participating in the event.

Family Involvement and Disney Resort Experience

Families of the participating cheerleaders receive a park package, including lodging and three days of park passes. Jessica Conklin, Annah Lilly’s mother, has been actively involved in helping her daughter prepare for the parade. The Conklin family, familiar with Disney resorts and competitions, looks forward to the unique experience.

Livestreaming the Parade

For those unable to attend in person, the UCA website will livestream the Thanksgiving Tour parade on Wednesday, Nov. 22, and Thursday, Nov. 23, at varsity.com/school/camps/special-events/orlando.
