Jin Surprise of BTS Drops ‘Super Tuna,’ ‘Abyss’ And ‘Tonight’ Are Now Available For Streaming: Listen
Jin surprised fans with the news that he’d perform his new solo single “The Astronaut” live at Coldplay’s upcoming Buenos Aires show, and now the BTS singer has given ARMY yet another gift.
“Tonight,” which was released in June 2019 as part of BTS’ sixth anniversary celebrations, was Jin’s first entirely original solo song to be uploaded to the group’s SoundCloud. The acoustic R&B-pop track was co-written by Jin and BTS leader RM, as well as longtime collaborators Slow Rabbit and Hiss Noise, and features Jin’s airy falsetto over production that shifts from sparse guitar to an emotional mix of piano and synthesisers. On BTS’ SoundCloud, “Tonight” has received over 53 million streams.

Jin released the moving, personal ballad “Abyss” to commemorate his birthday in December 2020, which shared an honest look at his struggles with performance anxiety, insecurities, and burnout. The song was also written by Jin and RM, as well as longtime BTS producer Pdogg and BUMZU, who produced the song and is known for his work with artists such as SEVENTEEN and NU’EST. “Abyss” has over 29 million SoundCloud streams and 31.5 million YouTube streams.
Jin changed things up completely for ARMY’s birthday in 2021 with his super-fun, super-synth track “Super Tuna,” which became an unexpected viral hit despite not having global distribution. Jin and BUMZU wrote and produced the one-minute song “Super Tuna,” with its accompanying choreography video taking on a life of its own and garnering tonnes of covers across TikTok, including the Teletubbies.
“Super Tuna” has previously peaked at No. 4 on the weekly Hot Trending Songs Chart and is currently ranked No. 11 after 45 weeks. Its choreography video has over 76 million views on YouTube and over 8.1 million SoundCloud streams.
The new singles precede Jin’s upcoming solo single “The Astronaut,” which was co-written by Jin and Coldplay. The song will be released one week from now, on October 28 at midnight. BTS revealed that concept photos, a music video, and a lyric video were all promised as part of the track’s release.
