John Ross Retires From NFL
John Ross made history at the 2017 NFL Combine when he blazed through the 40-yard dash in a record-breaking 4.22 seconds. This remarkable feat surpassed the previous record held by Chris Johnson, who ran a 4.24 in 2008. Ross’ 40-yard dash time remains unmatched, leaving a lasting mark on the league’s history.
A Draft Journey and NFL Stints
Ross was a highly anticipated prospect in the 2017 NFL Draft, selected by the Cincinnati Bengals with the ninth overall pick. However, his NFL journey took several turns as he battled injuries and faced challenges during his career.
After a limited role in his rookie season, Ross had his best year in 2018, securing seven touchdowns. His most productive season came in 2019 when he recorded 28 receptions for 506 yards and three touchdowns.
Following the expiration of his rookie contract, Ross joined the New York Giants ahead of the 2021 season. However, injuries and limited playing time led to the decision to retire from professional football.
Although his NFL career may have been brief, John Ross will always be remembered for his blazing speed and the record-setting 40-yard dash.
