Kanye West’s ‘The Shop’ Episode Is Cancelled After He Delivers ‘More Hate Speech’

Kanye “Ye” West is expanding on his recent controversial remarks, employing “more hate speech and extremely dangerous stereotypes” during the taping of a new episode of the YouTube talk show Uninterrupted The Shop.

The Shop, which is executive produced by LeBron James and Maverick Carter, has decided not to air the episode or reveal what West said. Carter told The Hollywood Reporter, “Yesterday we taped an episode of The Shop with Kanye West.” Kanye had been booked for weeks, and after speaking with him directly the day before we taped, I felt he was capable of a respectful discussion and was ready to address all of his recent comments. Unfortunately, he used The Shop to spread more hate speech and dangerous stereotypes.”

“We have decided not to air this episode or any of Kanye’s remarks,” the statement continues. While The Shop values thoughtful debate and opposing viewpoints, we have zero tolerance for hate speech of any kind and will never allow our channels to be used to promote hatred. I accept full responsibility for misinterpreting Kanye’s request for a different conversation and apologise to our guests and crew. Hate speech should never be heard.”

According to THR, James was not present at the aforementioned taping.

THR has contacted YouTube for comment.

The Shop controversy is just the latest example of West using language that is widely regarded as racist or hate speech. Last Friday, the rapper-turned-fashion mogul sparked outrage when he used antisemitic language in an Instagram post, prompting the post to be removed and West to be locked out of his account.

On Saturday, West returned to Twitter after a long absence, but he posted an antisemitic tweet, writing, “I’m going death con 3 On JEWISH PEOPLE.” The tweet was later removed for breaking Twitter’s rules.

The Anti-Defamation League, the American Jewish Committee, and the Black-Jewish Entertainment Alliance have all condemned West’s social media posts.

Elon Musk, the prospective new owner of Twitter, tweeted on Sunday that he had spoken with West about his racist tweet. “Talked to ye today & expressed my concerns about his recent tweet, which I think he took to heart,” Musk tweeted.
