Kelly Clarkson Begs Lady Gaga For A ‘Stupid Love’ Cover
Prepare to freak out, freak out, freak out, as well as get down, get down, get down to Kelly Clarkson’s newest Kellyoke cover. The pop star-turned-talk show host performed Lady Gaga’s electric 2020 single “Stupid Love” on The Kelly Clarkson Show on Tuesday morning (Nov. 29).
Clarkson and her band Y’all gave Gaga’s dance pop banger a slight rock edge while performing under a constellation of strobing, Chromatica-inspired pink, purple, and blue stage lights. “All I ever wanted was love,” the three-time Grammy winner sang, as she wowed the audience with her ever-impressive belt. “I’m looking for your stupid love.”
“Stupid Love” was released as the lead single from Gaga’s sixth studio album Chromatica, her first proper solo LP since Joanne in 2016. The album debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and spawned four Billboard Hot 100 singles, one of which was “Stupid Love,” which peaked at number five.
The second single from the album, “Rain On Me,” featuring Ariana Grande, became Gaga’s fifth No. 1 single. Billboard named it the top song of 2020.
The “Stronger” singer’s new cover can be added to her ever-expanding collection of Lady Gaga Kellyoke performances. On her Emmy-winning talk show, she has previously performed the Mother Monster’s Born This Way single “You & I,” the 2008 breakthrough hit “Poker Face,” and “Bad Romance.”
Gaga is currently preparing for next year’s Grammy Awards after learning earlier this month that her scoring work on Top Gun: Maverick had received two nominations. “It’s a true dream to be included in this celebration of music with a song and musical theme so dear to my heart,” the Haus Labs founder wrote on Instagram in response to the news. “I completely cried, this never gets old, and I’m extremely humbled.”
