Morrissey Has Announced That His Upcoming Album, ‘Bonfire Of Teenagers,’ Will Be Delayed.
“Bonfire of Teenagers is no longer scheduled for a February release, as stated by this site,” the singer announced on his official website in a note titled “Bonfire Unlit.” “Its fate is entirely in the hands of Capitol Records (Los Angeles.)” Capitol was contacted for comment.
The long-awaited album is intended to be a follow-up to 2020’s I Am Not a Dog on a Chain. It is expected to be finished in mid-2021 and features production by Andrew Watt as well as musical contributions from Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith, bassist Flea, and former RHCP guitarist Josh Klinghoffer. Miley Cyrus and Iggy Pop also make appearances.
Several tracks from the yet-to-be-released studio set, including “Rebels Without Applause,” “Sure Enough, the Telephone Rings,” “Kerouac’s Crack,” “I Am Veronica,” “I Live in Oblivion,” and “Saint in a Stained Glass Window,” have already debuted live at various tour stops this year.
Speaking of touring, the British alt-rocker’s most recent stop at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles ended abruptly, according to fans on Twitter, when he played a few songs before calling it a night due to the unseasonably cold weather. (“So, #Morrissey just walked off the stage at @Greek Theatre after 30 minutes. Apparently he was too cold,” one fan tweeted.
Morrissey’s manager took issue with his portrayal on an episode of The Simpsons in 2021, calling it “harshly hateful,” but the animated series responded with a parody single titled “Everyone Is Horrid Except Me (And Possibly You).”
