Netflix Axes ‘Shadow And Bone’, ‘Glamorous’, And ‘Agent Elvis’ In Post-Strike Evaluation
In an exclusive announcement, Netflix revealed its decision to discontinue the production of live-action series Shadow and Bone, Glamorous, and adult animated comedies Agent Elvis, Farzar, and Captain Fall. The verdict comes one week after the conclusion of the SAG-AFTRA strike and a month and a half following the end of the WGA work stoppage.
Evaluating Strike Impact
The entertainment industry continues to grapple with the repercussions of the seven-month production shutdown caused by the strikes. Netflix, which refrained from making cancellation decisions during the past 6½ months, has now joined the ranks of networks and platforms assessing the aftermath of the strikes.
Performance vs. Cost

As is customary, Netflix considered the series’ performance against their production costs. In the case of Shadow and Bone, Glamorous, Agent Elvis, Farzar, and Captain Fall, additional factors also played a significant role in the cancellation decision.
Production Challenges
The strikes led to delays in writing and filming, disrupting networks and streamers’ scheduling plans. This has resulted in a logjam for late 2024 and 2025 launches, affecting shows’ projected premieres. The production shutdown also created substantial gaps between seasons, making freshman series particularly vulnerable unless they have achieved significant success.
Transition in Adult Animation
Netflix’s adult animation department is undergoing a transition period with new leadership. The department, led by Director of Adult Animation Billy Wee, is reshaping its development slate as the streaming giant continues to invest in the genre.
