Pharrell Williams Throws the Opening Pitch At The New York Yankees Game
Pancakes, pancakes, pancakes! Pharrell Williams threw out the first pitch at a baseball game earlier this week against the New York Yankees (Aug. 22).
For the occasion, Pharrell wore an outfit from his Billionaire Boys Club collection, which he collaborated on with the New York Yankees.
The Grammy-winning musician’s Something in the Water Festival began in his hometown of Virginia Beach before moving to the nation’s capital in June. When asked if the concert would return to Virginia Beach, Pharrell told Billboard, “That is a great question, but one I cannot answer.” Only because I was dissatisfied with how the city administration handled my cousin’s death. It’s one thing if the officer made a mistake, but this kind of follow-up is unacceptable. There didn’t seem to be many people who cared about him or respected his life. His life and death should have been treated as any other Virginian’s. We may consider returning if we see that things are handled differently, not just for African Americans, but for all minorities.”
He went on to say that the charity was really at the festival’s “leave behind.” The 757 is also benefiting, and we brought the city to the festival, so it’s not just D.C. that’s benefiting. The activation of the people is what allows this festival to take place, both here and on the 757. The public’s participation is what has caused this to occur.”
