According to the Los Angeles Times, rapper PnB Rock was shot on Monday (Sept. 12) at Roscoe’s Chicken & Waffles in Los Angeles’ Inglewood neighbourhood.
While the Los Angeles Police Department had not yet identified the 30-year-old “I Like Girls” rapper as the victim when Billboard reached out to them, they did confirm that a shooting and possible robbery occurred at the restaurant at 1:23 p.m. PT. The victim, a Black male, was taken to the hospital, and his current condition is unknown.
Earlier in the day, Rock’s girlfriend, Stephanie Sibounheuang, shared a photo of the couple’s Roscoe’s meal to her Instagram Stories, which TMZ screenshotted and shared. Someone on Twitter shared a graphic video purportedly showing the rapper on the ground after being shot.
PnB Rock released his long-awaited official debut album, TrapStar Turnt PopStar, in 2019. “I’m not an overnight success.” “I worked hard, and now it’s my turn,” he told Billboard at the time. “At one point in my career, I was one of the mother—-ers who paid to get on stage.” I went to SXSW twice and paid a few hundred dollars to be on that stage.”
The album was released following the star’s participation in Billboard Hot 100 hit collaborations such as Meek Mill’s “Dangerous” and YFN Lucci’s “Everyday We Lit.” “That sh- is a lot of pressure — I can’t lie, it was starting to get to me,” he admitted of making an album after receiving so much attention. “I really wanted to let [the fans] know, like, ‘I’m working on some sh- for y’all!'” “It will be worthwhile.”
Following the shooting, rapper Russ and others took to social media to express their support for PnB Rock.
