Rihanna Posts NFL Football Pic, Confirming She’ll Perform At The Next Super Bowl Halftime Show
Rihanna will be attending the Super Bowl!
After rumours circulated on Sunday morning (Sept. 25) that she was in talks to headline the 2023 Apple Music Super Bowl Halftime Show, the 34-year-old superstar fueled the speculation by posting an Instagram photo of herself holding an NFL-branded football.
The NFL confirmed the news shortly after RiRi’s post by retweeting a Roc Nation post that featured the same image RiRi had shared. The label and management company captioned its tweet, “Let’s GO.” Rihanna’s football teaser image was also shared by the NFL on its official Twitter account.
DPS will produce the Apple Music Super Bowl Halftime Show telecast, with Roc Nation and Jesse Collins serving as executive producers and Hamish Hamilton directing. Roc Nation will also serve as the live performance’s strategic entertainment advisors.
“Rihanna is a generational talent, a woman of humble beginnings who has exceeded expectations at every turn,” said Jay-Z, founder of Roc Nation. “A person born on the small island of Barbados who rose to prominence as one of the world’s most prominent artists.” “I am a self-made businessman and entertainer.”
“We are thrilled to welcome Rihanna to the Apple Music Super Bowl Halftime Show stage,” NFL head of music Seth Dudowsky said in a statement. “Rihanna is a one-of-a-kind artist who has been a cultural force her entire career.” We are excited to work with Rihanna, Roc Nation, and Apple Music to bring fans another historic Halftime Show performance.”
Apple Music, which recently replaced Pepsi as the official sponsor of the annual music and pop culture event, stated that fans will see more details and sneak peeks about the upcoming Super Bowl performance through Apple Music’s various social media platforms in the coming months.
“Rihanna is an incredible recording artist who is a favourite of many millions of Apple Music customers worldwide,” Apple’s VP of Apple Music and Beats, Oliver Schusser, said. “We’re thrilled to be collaborating with Rihanna, Roc Nation, and the NFL to present a historic show for music and sports fans — what an incredible artist for the inaugural Apple Music Super Bowl Halftime Show.”
A star-studded concert led by Dr. Dre and joined by Eminem, Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige, and Kendrick Lamar took the stage at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles for the 2022 Super Bowl Halftime Show. Other recent performers have included The Weeknd, Lady Gaga, and Beyonce.
