Roger Waters Cancels Concerts In Poland Following War Remarks
Pink Floyd co-founder Roger Waters has cancelled concerts in Poland due to outrage over his stance on Russia’s war against Ukraine, according to Polish media on Saturday (Sept. 24).
The Tauron Arena in Krakow, where Waters was scheduled to perform two concerts in April, has announced that they will no longer take place.
“Roger Waters’ manager decided to withdraw… without giving any reason,” said Lukasz Pytko of Tauron Arena Krakow in comments carried by Polish media outlets on Saturday.
Krakow city councillors were expected to vote next week on a proposal to declare Waters a persona non grata, expressing “indignation” over the musician’s stance on Ukraine’s war.
Early this month, Waters wrote an open letter to Ukrainian first lady Olena Zelenska in which he blamed “extreme nationalists” in Ukraine for “setting your country on the path to this disastrous war.” He also chastised the West for supplying Ukraine with weapons, specifically blaming Washington.
Waters has also slammed NATO, accusing it of inciting Russia.
