Sam Smith, Rosalia, The Kid LAROI, And Other Artists: What Is Y/our Favourite New Music From The Previous Week? Vote!
Happy Friday, new music! This week’s new music includes songs by Sam Smith, one of the year’s biggest hitmakers; Rosala, a formidable force in the Latin pop field; and The Kid LAROI, who previously ruled the Billboard Hot 100 with a global smash.
Smith’s highly anticipated album Gloria is driven by the scorching No. 1 song “Unholy,” which features Kim Petras and serves as a window into Smith’s newfound voice. Every single on the album is about Smith embracing their newfound freedom, as evidenced by the sexually liberated anthem “I’m Not Here to Make Friends” and more vulnerable, confessional songs like “Perfect.”
Rosala, a Latin pop artist, changed things up with the release of “LLYM.” The “Despechá” singer trades her native Spanish for English on the Max Martin-assisted single, singing in a lush falsetto and exploring how deceptive fake adoration can be, yet she needs it anyway. “I don’t need honesty/ Baby, lie like you love me, lie like you love me,” Rosala sings on the song.
Following the release of his debut studio album’s lead song “Can’t Go Back to the Way It Was,” The Kid LAROI returned on Friday with the release of “Love Again.” Instead of a showy single, LAROI follows in the footsteps of his own breakout smash “Without You,” making himself vulnerable while contemplating relationship settlement.
