Nicky Moore, frontman of his own band Nicky Moore And The Blues Corporation and former vocalist for heavy metal bands Samson and Mammoth, died at the age of 75. Moore was also the frontman for the blues band Nicky Moore And The Blues Corporation.
On Wednesday, August 3, his death was announced to the public via a post on the musician’s official Facebook page. It was stated in the text, “Nicky, a man larger than life in both body and spirit, died this morning, and our hearts are heavy with the news. We respectfully request that you accept our heartfelt condolences.” A man who believes he has lived a thousand lives in a single life has decided to take a break. Friends, I hope you get a good night’s sleep. Everyone misses you and loves you to pieces.
As of the writing of this article, no one close to Moore had confirmed the cause of his death. Regardless, Louder reported that the musician had Parkinson’s disease and had spent his final years in a nursing home before passing away.
Moore’s professional career began in the late 1960s with the formation of his bluesy hard-rock band Hackensack. Then, in the mid-1970s, he joined Tiger as a singer; in 1981, he was hired by Samson to replace Bruce Dickinson, who had left to join Iron Maiden. His first stint with the band lasted three years, during which time they released two albums: “Before the Storm” and “Don’t Get Mad, Get Even.”
Moore left Samson shortly after the release of the latter album, only to return briefly in 1986 to contribute vocals to the band’s ‘Joint Forces album. Moore left Samson shortly after the latter album’s release. He performed with the band for the final time in 2000 and continued to do so until 2002 when the band officially disbanded (following the passing of longtime guitarist Paul Samson, who was also the namesake of the band).
Moore later fronted the hard rock bands Mammoth (with whom he released two albums, the eponymous Mammoth in 1989 and the tardily titled XXXL in 1997), Mister Big Stuff (with whom he released one album), and From Behind (with whom he released one album) (with whom he released two albums). After leaving Samson for the first time, Moore went on to become the lead singer for the hard rock band Mammoth.
He formed Nicky Moore And The Blues Corporation in the mid-1990s, with whom he has recorded seven studio albums (the most recent of which was 2006’s ‘Hog On A Log’). In a BBC Radio 2 listener poll from the year 2000, the band in question was voted “Top Live Blues Band.”
