The Long-Awaited Kelly Clarkson Cover Of The CeCe Peniston Classic Is Out At Last!
On Friday (Jan. 27), Kelly Clarkson transformed her Kelly Clarkson Show into a club, providing the ultimate dance floor hit for her beloved Kellyoke segment.
The OG American Idol champion performed an enthusiastic song of CeCe Peniston’s “Finally,” backed by her My Band Y’all, successfully performing all the runs and high notes while wearing a paisley printed dress and a comfortable brown sweater.
The song, which was released in September 1991 as Peniston’s debut single from her 1992 album of the same name, peaked at No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart and remained there for 33 weeks. Meanwhile, “Finally” topped the Dance Club Songs chart for two weeks in October 1991.
Clarkson’s regular mini-performances have proven so successful since The Kelly Clarkson Show debuted in 2019, that she produced an EP this summer comprising recordings of six Kellyoke-ified tracks. One of them was her stunning cover of Whitney Houston’s “Queen of the Night,” as well as Billie Eilish’s “Happier Than Ever,” The Weeknd’s “Call Out My Name,” and others.
