Ticketmaster Has Postponed Sales For Taylor Swift’s ‘Eras’ Tour Due To ‘Historically Unprecedented Demand.’
Swifties fought tooth and nail to get tickets to Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour next year on the same day she received four Grammy nominations. In fact, so many of them flooded Ticketmaster’s site trying to purchase tickets during the tour’s initial presale Tuesday (Nov. 15) that the company was forced to postpone a couple of its onsales due to high reports of site crashes and technical difficulties.
“A few updates on the Taylor Swift Eras Tour onsale,” Ticketmaster’s official Twitter account said in a statement. “There was historically unprecedented demand for TaylorSwiftTix Presale tickets,” said a spokesperson.
“Hundreds of tickets have been sold,” the statement went on. “If you have already purchased tickets, you are set.” If you are currently in line, please be patient; queues are moving and we are working hard to get fans through as soon as possible.”
The company then announced that onsales for West Coast shows in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Santa Clara, and Seattle would be moved to 3 p.m. PT Tuesday, rather than 10 a.m. PT. The Capital One cardholders presale has also been pushed back to 2 p.m. local time on Wednesday (Nov. 16), from its original start time of 2 p.m. local time on Tuesday.
“All text-messaged presale codes and links will still work at that time,” Ticketmaster assured Swifties in a statement. “We appreciate your patience as we continue to manage this massive demand.”
The presale began at 10 a.m. local venue time on Tuesday, but was quickly followed by outages on Ticketmaster’s website. The technical difficulties were reported and posted about by anxious fans attempting to secure tickets to one of Swift’s 52 North American shows, which will begin in March of next year.
Some of the massive demand for Eras Tour tickets was evident even before the sale, prompting the “All Too Well” pop star to add 25 additional shows to her 27 original dates in the last few weeks.
