TWICE Celebrates Their 7th Anniversary with Their Most Meaningful Singles Yet: Exclusive
When a K-pop group reaches the seven-year mark, it is traditionally a decisive and sometimes difficult moment for the act to decide whether or not its members want to renew their contracts and continue working together. TWICE’s upcoming seventh anniversary on Oct. 20 can be a day of pure celebration for the group and their fans, thanks to the fact that all nine members of the K-pop supergroup renewed their contracts with longtime label JYP Entertainment in July.
“All members of TWICE completed renewing their contracts prior to the expiration of their exclusive contracts this fall,” JYP Entertainment said in a statement to the media. “Based on this trust, TWICE, who played a critical role in establishing JYP’s status, and JYP, which became a reliable source of support for TWICE growing to become a representative K-pop girl group, agreed to renew the contracts with confidence in an even better future.”
TWICE then released a new EP titled Between 1&2, which became their first album to sell 100,000 copies in its first week, making them the first K-pop girl group to have three Top 10 albums on the Billboard 200. While this week marks Between 1&2’s seventh consecutive week at No. 131 on the Billboard 200, the EP is also significant for the group because it bridges the gap between TWICE’s first and second chapters.
TWICE will enter a new phase after October 20, 2022, as a group with an undeniable established presence in the world’s largest markets and enormous growth potential. Since last October, the group has achieved a slew of firsts, including entering the Hot 100 and UK Singles charts, performing a stadium show in the United States, performing a record-breaking three days at Tokyo’s famed Toyko Dome, and receiving nominations for MTV European Music Awards.
Before TWICE enters Chapter 2 and begins the anniversary celebrations, members Nayeon, Jeongyeon, Momo, Sana, Jihyo, Mina, Dahyun, Chaeyoung, and Tzuyu all reflected on the most important TWICE single so far.

“Feel Special” speaks to me the most because it allows us to tell the world our story, the story of TWICE, through this song. It gives us our own distinct voice.

The song that means the most to me is “Like OOH-AAH,” because it was our first single and introduced us to the world. This song shaped TWICE and helped us get to where we are today.

I can relate to the lyrics of “Feel Special.” The words tell TWICE’s story and remind me of my own thoughts and memories as a team.
