U.K. Top Songs Of All Time: Madonna vs. Steps

A poptacular showdown is developing between Madonna’s remix compilation and Steps’ career retrospective in the UK chart race.

With 14 top 10 singles and two number ones, Steps’ Platinum Collection dominates the Official Chart Update.

The British girl group Steps consists of Claire Richards, Faye Tozer-Smith, Ian “H” Watkins, Lisa Scott-Lee, and Lee Latchford-Evans, and they have released three albums that have reached number one on the charts: 1999’s Steptacular, 2001’s Gold: Greatest Hits, and 2003’s The Ultimate Collection (2001). (2011).

Madonna’s fame spread across the pond to the UK. She has enjoyed chart success in the United Kingdom unlike any other female artist, with 12 studio albums reaching number one, tying her for third place all-time with Bruce Springsteen. After the Beatles’ 15 No. 1s, Madonna would tie with Robbie Williams and Elvis Presley for second place on the all-time list.
Rapper Aitch from Manchester is still looking. The 22-year-old hip hop artist’s latest debut LP, Close to Home, enters the chart at position No. 3 on the new update, which is driven by streaming activity.
According to the Official Charts Company, Close to Home has more streams than any other song this week. It has outperformed Steps on streaming services by a factor of nearly seven to one.

Following 2019’s No. 3 debut of AitcH20 and 2020’s No. 10 debut of Polaris, Close to Home will be Aitch’s third top ten album. (No. 7).
Meanwhile, Brendon Urie of Panic! at the Disco may have his fifth UK top ten single with their latest offering. The band At The Disco released an album called Viva Las Vengeance. It will arrive at stop No. 4 as planned.
Oasis’s record-breaking third studio album Be Here Now rounds out the top 5 after its 25th anniversary reissue, and Demi Lovato’s Holy Fvck, which enters the chart at No. 6, seems poised to give her a fifth consecutive appearance in the U.K. top 10.
Finally, Freakout/Release, Hot Chip’s eighth studio album, is expected to debut at No. 7 on the U.K. album charts, marking the band’s return to the top 10 after an absence of 14 years. Meanwhile, Five Finger Death Punch, an American heavy rock band, may make their fourth appearance in the top 10 with AfterLife. This will be their ninth studio release, and it is projected to enter the charts at position No. 9.
