‘Un Verano Sin Ti’ By Bad Bunny Enters Its Tenth Week At No. 1, Giving It The Most Weeks At The Top Of The Billboard 200 In Over A Year.
Un Verano Sin Ti by Bad Bunny is back at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart (rising 2-1) for the 10th nonconsecutive week. It now has the most weeks at No. 1 in 2022, surpassing the Encanto soundtrack’s nine weeks. Un Verano Sin Ti also has the most weeks at No. 1 in over a year, surpassing Morgan Wallen’s Dangerous: The Double Album, which spent 10 weeks (all consecutive, from its debut) at No. 1. (Jan. 23-March 27, 2021, charts).
Megadeth earns its eighth top 10 with the No. 3 debut of The Sick, the Dying… and the Dead!, while Romeo Santos earns his fourth top 10 with the No. 10 debut of Fórmula, Vol. 3. Furthermore, Wallen’s Dangerous: The Double Album sets a new record for the most weeks in the top 10 for an album by a single artist, clocking an 86th nonconsecutive week in the region.
The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week in the United States based on Luminate’s compilation of multi-metric consumption as measured in equivalent album units. Album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA), and streaming equivalent albums are all counted as units (SEA). Each unit represents one album sale, ten individual album tracks sold, or 3,750 ad-supported or 1,250 paid/subscription on-demand official audio and video streams generated by album songs. The new chart, which is dated September 17, 2022, will be available in its entirety on Billboard’s website on Tuesday (Sept. 13). Un Verano Sin Ti debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 on May 21 and has yet to leave the top two rungs of the chart in its entire 18-week run. Un Verano Sin Ti is the first album to spend its first 18 weeks on the chart in the top two since August 1963, when Billboard combined its separate stereo and mono album charts into one single album chart. Meanwhile, Un Verano Sin Ti is the first album to have six separate No. 1s since Adele’s 21 had ten separate No. 1s in 2011-12, for a total of 24 weeks at the top. It debuted at No. 1 on the list on March 12, 2011, and spent its final week at the top on June 23, 2012.
Dangerous: The Double Album by Wallen climbs 5-2 on the new Billboard 200, with 48,000 equivalent album units earned (down 5%).
Dangerous: The Double Album has now spent 86 weeks in the top ten on the Billboard 200 chart, breaking the record for the most weeks in the top ten on the Billboard 200 chart among albums by a single artist since the chart began publishing on a regular, weekly basis in March 1956. It surpasses Peter, Paul, and Mary’s self-titled album’s 85 weeks in the top ten in 1962-64.
The Weeknd’s hits compilation The Highlights rises 13-8 with 29,000 equivalent album units earned (up 1%) in its second week, while TWICE’s Between 1&2: 11th Mini Album falls 3-9 with 28,000 units (down 73%).
Santos rounds out the top ten with Fórmula, Vol. 3, which debuts at No. 10 with 26,000 equivalent album units. It’s the artist’s fourth top-ten hit on the list. SEA units account for 23,500 of the total (equivalent to 33.1 million on-demand streams of the set’s songs), album sales account for 2,000, and TEA units account for 500.
