Wilco’s ‘Yankee Hotel Foxtrot’ Debuts At No. 10 On The Billboard 200 After A 20th Anniversary Reissue.

Following its 20th anniversary deluxe reissue on September 30, Wilco’s Yankee Hotel Foxtrot rockets back onto Billboard’s album charts. With 13,000 copies sold in the U.S. in the week ending October 6, the set, which was first released in 2002, re-enters Top Album Sales (dated Oct. 15) at a new peak of No. 4 and spends its first week in the top 10. (up from a negligible sales sum a week earlier).

Additionally, Yankee Hotel Foxtrot makes its chart debut at No. 1 on the Catalog Albums chart and enters the top 10 on the Top Rock & Alternative Albums, Top Rock, Top Alternative, Americana/Folk, Tastemaker, and Vinyl Albums charts. It also makes a comeback in the Billboard 200, debuting at No. 56, the set’s highest position since 2002. (On the chart for the week ending May 11, 2002, the album debuted and peaked at No. 13).

The Top Album Sales chart on Billboard lists the best-selling albums of the week using only conventional album sales. The chart’s history began on May 25, 1991, the first week Billboard started compiling charts using electronically monitored piece count data from SoundScan, which is now Luminate. Up until the list dated December 6, 2014, the Billboard 200 albums chart only used pure album sales as a measurement. Thereafter, the chart adopted a methodology that combines pure album sales with track equivalent album units and streaming equivalent album units. The End, So Far by the rock group Slipknot debuts at No. 1 on the Top Album Sales chart with 50,000 sales, becoming their fourth chart-topper overall. The album was made available in a variety of collectible physical formats, including three boxed sets, seven vinyl LPs, three cassette tapes, a signed CD, nine CDs with alternate cover art (one for each band member), and nine CDs.

Melt My Eyez See Your Future by Denzel Curry, which was released on physical formats on September 30, debuts at No. 2 on Top Album Sales with 16,000 sales. On March 25, the set was initially made available through streaming services and digital retailers. The album was made available in 11 different vinyl variations, four cassettes, but only one CD, which helped boost sales. With 13,500 wax copies sold, the album debuts at No. 1 on the Vinyl Albums chart.

With 16,000 units sold, Tyler Childers’ latest album, Can I Take My Hounds to Heaven, debuts at No. 3 on the Top Album Sales list, making it his third top-10 release overall.

Childers’ latest album was only offered in three formats, as opposed to The End, So Far, and Melt My Eyez: a standard digital album, a CD, and a black vinyl edition. However, because Childers recorded the album’s eight songs in three different versions, the set is really a triple album. (The album’s three sections are labelled Hallelujah, Jubilee, and Joyful Noise.) The three-CD set cost $24.98 while the triple-vinyl LP cost $59.95. In contrast, the digital album is only $11.99 on his Childers’ website.
