Noah Cyrus Collaborates With His Father, Billy Ray Cyrus, On An Emotional Duet Version Of ‘Noah (Stand Still).’
Noah Cyrus keeps it all in the family by collaborating with her father, Billy Ray Cyrus, on a new duet version of her single “Noah (Stand Still).”
The tender track, which was released at midnight on Friday (Sept. 23), finds the younger Cyrus reflecting on advice she received from her father in the midst of her Xanax addiction, which she was secretly battling as she celebrated her 20th birthday.
Death was on my doorstep if I just took one more step/ There’d be nothing but these songs left of me/ And my father told me, ‘Noah/ When you don’t know where you’re going/ Just stand still/ Soon enough you will,'” On the first verse, Noah croons over soft acoustic guitar.
She hands the mic over to her father for the second verse, and the two spend the rest of the song harmonising as they sing, “Just stand still and watch your sunset leave/ The lonely dirt under your feet to fill/ Just stand still/ Sixty-seven thousand miles an hour/ Around the sun, and that is how it feels/ Just stand still.”
