According To A New Indictment, Mariah Carey And Other Celebrities Were Targeted By An Atlanta Gang.
On Monday (Aug. 29), a prosecutor announced a massive indictment against members of a violent street gang she claims has been targeting the homes of famous athletes, entertainers, and others who flaunt expensive possessions on social media.
The homes of singer Mariah Carey, Marlo Hampton of The Real Housewives of Atlanta, Atlanta United soccer player Brad Guzan, and Atlanta Falcons football player Calvin Ridley were all broken into, according to the indictment. The 220-count indictment, filed on August 22, charges 26 people, the majority of whom are charged with violating Georgia’s anti-gang and racketeering laws.
Carjacking, kidnapping, armed robbery, shootings, and home invasions were allegedly committed by members of the Drug Rich gang, which she claimed emerged in a neighbouring county in 2016. Willis claims that, in addition to celebrity targets, home invasions and burglaries have targeted social media influencers.
“They go after people who flaunt their wealth on social media,” she says. “So I do have a message for the general public: While it is fun to show off your stuff on social media, unfortunately these gangs are becoming more savvy, more sophisticated in how they target you.”
Willis, on the other hand, had a message for the alleged gang members: “If you thought Fulton was a good county to bring your crime, to bring your violence to, you were wrong, and you are going to suffer consequences,” he said.
Willis stated that the indictment, which was handed down last week, was the result of cooperation among various law enforcement agencies. Willis has stated that combating gangs is a top priority for her, and she plans to pursue harsh penalties for those involved in violent gang activity.
“I’m not bargaining with gang members.” “I will not take pleas,” she said. “I’m not going to apologise for finding you, convicting you, and sending you to prison for the rest of your life.”
