After Settling A Lawsuit With Pablo Escobar’s Family, 2 Chainz Plans To Expand His Restaurant Business.
2 Chainz recently settled a lawsuit with Pablo Escobar’s family to expand his Esco Restaurant and Tapas chain. Snoop Dogg opened the first of three Esco Restaurant And Tapas locations in Georgia in 2016, and he attributed much of the success to his business partner Mychel “Snoop” Dillard.
According to Chainz, “my initial introduction to the space was real estate,” so Dillard’s was crucial in his transition into the hospitality industry. “I own properties, dirt, and other such things,” you read correctly. That’s how we were able to combine our interests, and I’ve now been in this house for six years.
According to AllHipHop, Escobar Inc., a firm founded by Escobar’s brother, sued 2 Chainz and Dillard in June of 2020. Escobar Restaurant and Tapas were sued in Georgia for improperly using Escobar’s name and likeness in connection with its restaurants, websites, social media accounts, and merchandise. Escobar Inc. sued the restaurant for $10 million, and it also sued 2 Chainz and Dillard for infringement of Escobar’s intellectual property.
2 Chainz, Dillard, and Escobar Inc. began settlement talks in November 2020 and ultimately decided to settle their dispute amicably. According to reports, Chainz and Dillard paid Escobar Inc. $15,000 per the terms of the agreement.
Esco Restaurant and Tapas have signed its first franchisee, who plans to open a restaurant in Columbus, Ohio. Dillard’s has announced that new store agreements in Dallas and Memphis are nearing completion.
2 Chainz made headlines recently when he spoke out against a noise ordinance at an Atlanta City Council meeting. Rapper Killer Mike and the father of incarcerated rapper Young Thug both spoke out against the bill, citing its perceived bias against Black-owned businesses.
