Angela Bassett Apologizes To Anthony Hopkins Over His Criticism Of Marvel Films
Angela Bassett, who played Shuri in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, has apologised to Anthony Hopkins for his recent remarks about his time working on Marvel films.
Hopkins criticised the practise of working in front of a green screen in an interview with The New Yorker published in 2021, saying that he once wrote “No acting required” on the cover of his script for Thor.
The Silence of the Lambs actor played Odin in Thor (2011), Thor (2013), and Thor: Ragnarok (2017).
When discussing the film’s success, the actor praised both Chris Hemsworth (“who looks like Thor”) and Kenneth Branagh (“who is so certain of what he wants”).
They made me put on armour and a fake beard. Take your place on the throne and raise your voice slightly. When you’re in front of a green screen, acting is pointless.
In a recent interview with The New Yorker, Bassett expressed empathy for Hopkins, despite the fact that she had a very different experience in the MCU than he did.
So, here’s the situation. Physical sets were used for Wakanda Forever, according to Bassett.
She went on to describe the throne room, pointing out the red clay floor, elevated platform flanked by the Dora Milaje, and massive doors leading up to it. We had that, so maybe you don’t see Wakanda’s world.
Namor emerged from the water and flew to where Shuri and I were in the wilderness. There were trees and bushes, as well as water, for yards upon yards upon yards. The ship was entirely ours, and it was magnificently furnished. That means I had an easier time than Anthony Hopkins.
I feel sorry for him “She went on.
NME gave Black Panther: Wakanda Forever a perfect four-star rating, praising the film for its “mature atmosphere.” This Marvel film, more than any other, is about loss and the legacy one leaves behind.” He meant everything to me. In a touching moment, Nakia refers to T’Challa as “my T’Challa,” reflecting how many people felt about Chadwick Boseman. There is a dedication to him in the end credits, though it may not have been necessary. Wakanda Forever’s very existence serves as a memorial to him.
