Anniversary And How Ben Affleck ‘Knows All the Words Jennifer Lopez Remembers ‘This Is Me… Then’ 20th

Jennifer Lopez’s third studio album, This Is Me…, was released 20 years ago. Then, much of it was inspired by her relationship with Ben Affleck at the time. The singer is now reminiscing about the album and her rekindled romance with her now-husband.

The Good Will Hunting actor, as expected, “adores” the album. “He knows every word.” It’s insane. “He was also with me while I was making it,” she explained. “You’re driving around listening to demos. You’re taking in the mixes. ‘I wrote this just now. ‘How do you feel about this?’ That happened over and over for the two years we were together. He knows everything about it and adores it. He’s my biggest fan and supporter, which is fantastic. When he returned to my life, the same thing happened: I was so inspired and overcome with emotion that it was just pouring out of me.”

Lopez also revealed that her split from Affleck in 2004 was the “biggest heartbreak of my life.” “I honestly thought I was going to die,” she admitted, noting that she couldn’t perform songs from This Is Me… Then there was the fact that it was too painful. “It sent me on a downward spiral for the next 18 years in which I couldn’t get it right.” But, 20 years later, it has a happy ending. It has the most unlikely of Hollywood endings.”

The multihyphenate is now preparing to release her new album This Is Me… Now, which was inspired by her marriage and the amount she has grown over the years. “I think the album’s message is very much if you were wondering if you, like me, have lost hope, almost given up, don’t. Because true love exists, and some things truly last forever,” she explained.
