Blink-182 Releases ‘Edging,’ Their First New Song With Tom DeLonge In A Decade
Blink-182 is back, they’ll be performing in a large venue near you next year, and they’ll be road testing some new songs.
“Edging,” the first taste of new music from Blink-182’s reunited classic lineup, set social media ablaze this week with news of Tom DeLonge’s return to the band, is one of those tracks.
“Edging” is the first single from the band’s upcoming album, and the first with DeLonge since the singer/guitarist left the band for the second time in 2014.
If you thought the lads had grown up and moved on to soft ballads, think again. “Edging” is straight-up Blink-182 material, honed from adolescence and replete with the bluster, swagger, and stop-on-a-dime detail that helped the threesome become one of the most popular alternative rock acts of their era.
At the top, Delonge and Hoppus sing, “I’m a punk rock kid, I came from hell with a curse/ She tried to pray it away, so I f***ed her in church.”
The tour is set to begin on March 11 in Tijuana, Mexico at the Imperial GNP festival and will take the band through South America and Mexico until April 12 before shifting to North America on May 4 with a show at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minnesota; those dates will run through a July 16 gig at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville before moving on to Europe in September and Australia/New Zealand in early 2024.
Blink-182 will perform at a number of festivals in Latin America and the United States, including Lollapalooza and the 2023 edition of We Were Young.
