Bob Costas, A Sportscaster, Accidentally Mixes Up Justin Bieber And MLB Star Shane Bieber.
Is it too late for Bob Costas to apologise? While working the New York Yankees vs. Cleveland Guardians game, the legendary broadcaster made a minor, lighthearted gaffe.
During Game 2 of the American League Division Series on Friday afternoon (Oct. 14), Costas accidentally mixed up the names of Guardians pitcher Shane Bieber and pop star Justin Bieber, according to a video shared by TMZ from the game.
TMZ also spoke with Shane after the game, and the 27-year-old baseball player was a good sport about it all, saying it was just “a matter of time” before the error occurred.
In 2019, a Topps baseball card of Shane featured the pop star’s name rather than the player’s. Shane even made a joke about it on Twitter, posting a picture of the card with Justin’s name circled and the words “Nice.”
“I feel like we have a special connection,” Justin tweeted later.
Justin took the joke a step further a few weeks later. The “Love Yourself” singer posted a photo of himself on a motorcycle wearing a black jersey with the words “Not Shane Bieber” written across the shoulders. Shane wore a black jersey that read “Not Justin” during Player’s Weekend, when ballers were allowed to wear jerseys with their nicknames on them.
