Britney Spears And Elton John Collaborate On ‘Hold Me Closer’: Listen
Britney Spears is back on stage, and this time she’s free.
Spears’ “Hold Me Closer” duet with Elton John became available on streaming services on Friday, just hours after the song was rumoured to have leaked online (Aug. 19). Grammy winner Andrew Watt reworked John’s 1971 hit “Tiny Dancer” for this club-ready collaboration, which features the pop princess and the “Rocketman” himself singing the opening verse of John’s 1992 hit, “The One,” over a club-ready beat.
Before the song was released, Spears wrote on Instagram, “You can bet your bottom dollar that THIS collaboration will heighten my year by joining your brilliant hands at play.” “I appreciate your thoughtfulness in inviting me to join you in singing this wonderful song.” Incredible opportunity to sing background vocals for YOUR song! Sir Elton John, I acted because of your extraordinary intelligence, originality, and fame!!! I honestly can’t contain my excitement! I’m always the one who offers, right? ” Could I please get an AWWWWE?”
“Tiny Dancer,” released as a single in 1972, peaked at No. 41 on the Billboard Hot 100 after first appearing on John’s 1971 album Madman Across the Water. This song was featured in a memorable bus scene in Cameron Crowe’s 2000 film Almost Famous.
