BTS Marks The 5th Anniversary Of ‘Love Myself’ ‘Create More Positive Energy In People’s Lives,’ Says UNICEF
BTS’s Love Myself campaign has now been running for five years. The campaign, named after the group’s Love Yourself album trilogy and launched in 2017 in collaboration with UNICEF, was designed to help children and teens who have experienced violence and give them the tools to uplift themselves as well as others. The septet reiterated their campaign’s message in a video featuring all seven BTS members on Tuesday (Nov. 29).
“The Love Myself campaign that BTS, BigHit Music, and UNICEF launched together in 2017 celebrated its fifth anniversary,” RM began the heartfelt message. “The message of the Love Myself campaign has permeated our lives like background music over the last five years.” When I look into the daily lives of the ARMY, the massage of Love Myself seems to take up a significant portion of their emotions.”
“Love Myself campaign is like background music hits home,” Jin added. We might not notice its presence as we go about our daily lives. When we are troubled or stumbling, Love Myself appears in the right place and gives us the strength to overcome.”
“I’m thrilled and proud that our Love yourself message is reaching so many people in their daily lives.” But, at the same time, I’m concerned that there may still be people who don’t know how to love themselves,” Suga said.
“If you find anyone who needs the strength to love themselves, please reach out first,” J-Hope added. Please teach them to love themselves and provide them with hope.”
To commemorate the campaign’s fifth anniversary, Jimin encouraged fans to try to love themselves. V stated that loving oneself is the beginning of true love, while Jung Kook encouraged fans watching the message to reflect on their emotional progress over the year.
“We believe that you will continue to support the Love Myself campaign to create greater positive energy in people’s lives,” RM said at the end of the message.
According to the campaign’s website, as of August 2021, BTS’ Love Myself partnership with UNICEF had raised more than $3.4 million, and the hashtag #BTSLoveMyself had been used more than 15 million times on social media.
