Chris Isaak And Lucinda Williams Will Perform At The Americana Honors & Awards
The Americana Honors & Awards, set for Sept. 14 at Nashville’s fabled Ryman Auditorium, will feature Lucinda Williams, Chris Isaak, Brandi Carlile, and the Indigo Girls, among others.
There will also be performances by James McMurtry, Morgan Wade, Lukas Nelson, the McCrary Sisters, and The War and Treaty.
As previously announced, Isaak and the Indigo Girls will receive lifetime achievement awards at the event, which will also honour The Fairfield Four, Al Bell, and Don Williams.
Keb’ Mo’, Delbert McClinton, Irma Thomas, Robert Cray, Bob Weir, Los Lobos, Taj Mahal, Dr. John, Bonnie Raitt, Gregg Allman, Wanda Jackson, Asleep at the Wheel, Jason & the Scorchers, Joe Ely, Alejandro Escovedo, Marty Stuart, Chris Hillman, Levon Helm, and Emmylou Harris have all received the lifetime achievement award for performance.
The Indigo Girls will be honoured with the Spirit of Americana Award, which will be presented in collaboration with the First Amendment Center. Carla Thomas, Mavis Staples, Rosanne Cash, Graham Nash, Billy Bragg, Buffy Sainte-Marie, Jackson Browne, Stephen Stills, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Joan Baez, Mavis Staples, Charlie Daniels, Judy Collins, Steve Earle, Kris Kristofferson, and Johnny Cash are among the previous recipients.
The Fairfield Four will be honoured with the Legacy of Americana Award, which will be presented in collaboration with the National Museum of African American Music (NMAAM). Fisk Jubilee Singers, Rhiannon Giddens, and Frank Johnson are previous recipients.
Bell, who ran Stax Records before moving on to run Motown Records in the 1990s, will be honoured with the Jack Emerson lifetime achievement award for executives. Previous recipients include Judy Dlugacz and Cris Williamson (founders of Olivia Records), Larry Sloven and Bruce Bromberg (founders of HighTone Records), Chris Strachwitz, Dennis Lord, Rick Hall, Luke Lewis, Ken Levitan, Terry Lickona, Mary Martin, Barry Poss, Ken Irwin, Marian Leighton, Bill Nowlin (founders of Rounder Records), Jack Emerson, Sam Phillips, and T-Bone Burnett (founders of Rounder
Williams will be honoured with the President’s Award. Woody Guthrie, B.B. King, Jimmie Rodgers, Hank Williams, Lowell George, Jerry Garcia, Townes Van Zandt, Mickey Newbury, John Hartford, The Carter Family, Gram Parsons, and Doug Sahm are previous recipients.
