Early On, Katy Perry Recognised Dua Lipa As The “It Girl.”
Katy Perry stated in a recent interview that she recognised Dua Lipa as the “it girl” early in her career.
“I remember going to the Hollywood Palladium to see her perform,” Perry tells Rolling Stone. “How amusing, I left work early. This was my first season performing on American Idol. My co-judge Luke Bryan asked, “Who is Dua Lipa?” when I said, “I really need to leave by 7 o’clock because I’m going to see this new artist perform at the Palladium.” I responded, “Don’t worry, you’ll remember her name.”
Perry expressed empathy for the rising star based on her own experiences as a woman entering the entertainment industry. Perry has been extremely vocal about how stan culture pits female musicians against one another.
In the new interview, Perry also discussed the inspiration behind her campy Las Vegas residency. The extravagant costumes and enormous sets of the performance were inspired by Alice in Wonderland.
“You do not need to consume mushrooms to experience the effects of this programme. Believe me, says Perry. “This Alice in Wonderland-inspired animated tale of finding true love and self-love is wrapped in a nostalgic nostalgia factor.”
