Taylor Swift Reveals ‘Midnights’ Track Title Inspired By ‘Mad Men’
For Taylor Swift’s millions of fans, the release of her Midnights album cannot come soon enough. Swifties now have a new track title to tide them over.
Swift spun the bingo cage once more as the clock struck midnight for another round of Midnights Mayhem With Me.
With each game, a numbered ball is dropped, and Swift reveals the title of the corresponding song from Midnights.
This time, the winning number is Track 1, the song “Lavender Haze.”
Swift has now revealed nine song titles from her upcoming album Midnights, which will be released on October 21. “Lavender Haze,” “Maroon,” “Anti-Hero,” “Midnight Rain,” “Question…?,” “Vigilante Shit,” “Bejeweled,” “Karma,” and “Mastermind” are some of them.
And for those keeping track, there are only four bingo balls left in the game.
Swifties will go insane over the “Lavender” theme. Midnights’ vinyl edition is available in a variety of special colours, including the “Lavender Edition,” which includes a “lavender marble colour disc” among other must-have extras. Target is the only retailer carrying the “Lavender Edition” vinyl and a special CD with three bonus tracks.
The good times don’t stop there. TayTay announced another late-night game in which fans could win autographed photos.
Swift writes on her TikTok profile, “Tonight we mayhem til the morning!” “AND put out vinyls with photos I signed on them on my website!” It’s going to be a wild ride.”
Swift provided some background and context for the album opener in a separate Instagram post. “Lavender Haze” is the first track on Midnights. I came across the phrase while watching Mad Men. I looked it up because it sounded interesting. It turns out that it was a common phrase used in the 1950s to describe being in love. If you were in a ‘lavender haze,’ you were in that all-encompassing love glow. And I thought it was really lovely.”
There’s also a personal touch. “I suppose that when you’re in the ‘lavender haze,’ you’ll do anything to stay there.” And don’t let anyone knock you off your high horse. I think a lot of people have to deal with this now, just like ‘public figures,’ because we live in the era of social media, and if the world finds out if you’re in love with someone, they’re going to weigh in on it… for six years, my relationship has had to dodge weird rumours, tabloid stuff, and we just ignore it. So this is about ignoring that stuff in order to protect the real stuff.”
