Gwen Stefani Has A Corny Retirement Present Idea For Blake Shelton’s ‘Voice’
What do you get the guy who has everything? Gwen Stefani is unsure, but she does have one amusing gift idea in mind for her husband Blake Shelton’s retirement from The Voice.
The No Doubt singer spoke with Entertainment Tonight ahead of Monday’s (Nov. 14) live shows on the singing competition and revealed that staff members on the show have been trying to figure out what to get Shelton after he finishes season 23 of The Voice.
“This is insane because everyone is coming to me for ideas, ‘What should we do?'”
‘And it’s difficult, you know, because he has everything,” Stefani told the outlet. “But I think his favourite thing would be a bag of corn; he would be overjoyed.” Or something along those lines.”
Shelton announced his departure from the long-running NBC singing competition in October, after 12 years as a judge. The “Boys ‘Round Here” singer, who has been on the show for all 21 seasons, has crowned a champion from his team in eight of the previous 21. Stefani previously stated that she feels for the show’s viewers in light of his impending departure in season 23. (For season 23, Shelton will be joined by The Voice veteran Kelly Clarkson, as well as newcomers Niall Horan and Chance the Rapper.)
“He’s brought so much happiness. Last month, the “Hollaback Girl” singer told Entertainment Tonight, “He’s so talented.” “I know people just wait around to laugh and watch him on TV, so I feel bad for everyone that he’s going to be gone.”
“It’s so strange that Blake Shelton is leaving The Voice.” You know what I mean? I wasn’t prepared. “I need to figure out who this new Blake is,” she added. “I am so proud of him.”
