Lee Chan-Hyuk Of AKMU Has Released An Eccentric Video For His Holiday Single ‘Christgasma’
Lee Chan-hyuk, a soloist and AKMU singer, released a quirky new song and accompanying video to celebrate Christmas.
On December 19, the 26-year-old musician surprised fans on his YouTube channel with the song ‘Christgasma’ and an accompanying music video. The song does not appear to be available on streaming platforms at the time of publication.
Lee incorporates images of himself into Christmas decorations in the new video, and sings to the song against a green screen collage of increasingly outlandish places to celebrate the holiday, from the cafe in front of his house to the inside of a baguette loaf, eventually ending up in space.
Lee made his solo debut earlier this year with his studio album ‘Error,’ which received a five-star review from NME.
The title track from the album, ‘Panorama,’ has also made NME’s 2022 list of the best K-pop songs, ranking 14th. “It delivers a poignant message that we all but wilfully ignore: life is painfully short, so we might as well live every moment the way we want to,” Tanu I. Raj, a contributor to the song, wrote.
Lee made his debut in 2014 as half of the K-pop/Folk duo AKMU, alongside his sister Lee Su-hyun. The duo’s most recent collaboration was the 2021 album ‘Next Episode,’ which featured appearances by musicians such as IU, Zion.T, Crush, Sam Kim, and others.
Lee’s ‘Christgasma’ is the most recent in a string of holiday releases by K-pop idols, following aespa and Red Velvet’s ‘Beautiful Christmas’ and NMIXX’s ‘Funky Glitter Christmas’.
