Mark Tuan Reflects and Returns To Rap on Long-Awaited ‘The Other Side’ Album
Mark Tuan’s introspective album The Other Side is his first proper solo effort since breaking onto the scene in 2014 with his K-pop boy band GOT7.
Mark, a native Angeleno and one of GOT7’s designated rappers, has the opportunity to demonstrate his considerable vocal versatility throughout the album’s twenty tracks. Tuan is credited as the composer and songwriter for all of the songs, and Mark’s voice is prominently featured on the majority of them. While Mark has been releasing vocal-focused singles for the past nine months (including “last breath,” “my life,” “lonely,” “save me,” and “imysm”), on The Other Side he returns to the rap tracks fans first heard with GOT7 with boastful tracks like “my name” and album standout “change up.”
The music video for “far away,” the album’s closing track and a kiss-off track in which Mark deals with a toxic lover, was released alongside The Other Side. “I gave you one last chance, and you f-cked it up/ Now you’re far away/ And I hope you know, that’s where you’ll stay,” the song’s accompanying music video says.
Despite the fact that Mark and the DNA Official team worked tirelessly to create The Other Side, GOT7 is on board. BamBam, another GOT7 member, wrote on Instagram alongside a photo of his autographed copy of The Other Side, “me and IGOT7s will always support what you do bro.”
