Off-Broadway Debut For Maude Apatow In ‘Little Shop Of Horrors’
Maude Apatow is transferring her abilities from television to Off-Broadway.
The Euphoria actress will make her New York theatrical debut in Michael Mayer’s version of Little Shop of Horrors. She will play Audrey in the performance from February 7 through April 2, succeeding Tony Award winner Lena Hall.
“I have always admired Maude’s emotional intelligence and vulnerability on television and in movies,” Mayer said in a statement. She’s a perfect match for Audrey.”
“It delighted me to read that Little Shop was her gateway into her lifelong passion of performing as a child, and that this play gets to be her professional stage debut,” he concluded. We’re happy to have her join the Little Shop family.”
Apatow is most known for his role as Lexi Howard in the film Euphoria. She created, directed, and starred in her own fictional play during the show’s award-winning second season, and now she gets to star in a real one.
“We are thrilled to welcome yet another amazing performer to the show,” said Little Shop of Horrors producer Robert Ahrens. “We can’t wait to watch Maude light up the stage alongside Matt Doyle’s wonderful depiction of Seymour, with her gorgeous voice and immense skill.”
The actress recently told The Hollywood Reporter what “euphoria” would entail for her character Lexi in the HBO programme.
“Freedom from yourself and your thoughts and negative thoughts and nasty self-talk,” stated Apatow. “Once that’s out of the way, you can fulfil your full potential, which I believe will be hers: stop attacking yourself.”
