Taylor Swift’s New Hot 100 Record: ‘Phenomenal As Always,’ SZA
Women helping women! SZA celebrated Taylor Swift’s record-breaking reign at No. 1 with “Anti-Hero” on her Instagram Stories on Tuesday (Jan. 17).
Swift had earlier responded to the news that her newest single had spent an eighth week at the top of the Hot 100, becoming her longest-running chart-topper, by posting, “What on earth I love you guys…
PS: I’ve been nonstop listening to SZA’s album. Her music is fantastic. So much love and admiration for her!!!”
When she saw the considerate shout-out, the R&B singer retweeted the letter with her own remark. “Congratulations, Tay Tay!” she said. “And thank you very much for your album and writing…as ALWAYS.”
The feud comes as SZA’s “Kill Bill” has been giving Swift’s smash a run for its money on the charts, landing at No. 2 just below the Midnights anthem. (In the meantime, SZA’s long-awaited sophomore album SOS spent its fifth straight week at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, while Midnights is No. 2 on the Jan. 21 chart.) as
SZA’s warm response isn’t the first time she’s praised the pop star’s latest studio album. “Uhh I feel silly that I even have to say this but I see supporters debating and I detest that,” she wrote earlier this month, shutting down any notion of competition between herself and her fellow superstar. I have no beef with anyone, especially Taylor hahaha; I actually enjoyed her album and writing!”
