The Albums Chart in the United Kingdom May Be Won by Yungblud Soon
Yungblud is very close to claiming a second consecutive album chart victory in the UK.
The alternative rocker from Doncaster, England, tops the midweek chart with Yungblood, the follow-up to his second studio album Weird, which debuted at No. 1 in 2020.
Yungblud (real name Dominic Harrison) came up with an original way to show his appreciation to the Weird fan base after he achieved fame. He melted his Official Albums Chart No. 1 trophy and used it to make 150 bespoke safety pins for his fans.
There are a number of new albums, Yungblud included, competing for a spot in the top 10 in the UK. The Sick, The Dying… And The Dead, Megadeth’s sixteenth studio album, debuted at position two on the Official U.K. Chart Update. If it continues on its current path, The Sick will give the American trash metal veterans a career high and their first top 10 since Youthanasia peaked at No. 6 in 1994.
Last but not least, after the Foo Fighters’ all-star tribute to their late drummer Taylor Hawkins, who passed away earlier this year at the age of 50, the band’s career retrospective Best Of You – Greatest Hits soared 30 spots to No. 32 on the chart blast.
Last Saturday (September 3) at London’s Wembley Stadium, Metallica, Queen, Paul McCartney, AC/DC, Nile Rodgers, and Liam Gallagher all performed; in addition, Hawkins’ son Shane made a cameo on drums.
When it was first released in 2004, Best of You quickly rose to become a Top 5 hit.
On Friday evening, the Official UK Albums Chart will be made public.
