Which Snubbed Hot 100 Hitmaker Deserved A Grammy Nomination For Best New Artist? Vote!
The year-end Hot 100 Songs chart featured 15 artists who were both entered and eligible for this year’s Grammy’s best new artist award, but only two — Latto and Muni Long — made the cut for 2023.
Gayle and her breakout single “abcdefu” are one of the biggest Hot 100 success stories. Though she did not receive a nomination for best new artist this year, the song helped her reach No. 17 on the year-end Hot 100 Songs chart and earned her a nomination for song of the year. In addition, there are several other hitmakers who fans believed deserved to be nominated for best new artist at the Grammys this year.
Dove Cameron, a former Disney Channel star, came into her own in 2022, when she released her EP, Girl Like Me, in December, featuring the hit single “Boyfriend” as its lead and breakout single. Despite being passed over for best new artist, the track gained her enough traction to earn her the title of best new artist at the MTV Video Music Awards on August 28 and a spot on the year-end Hot 100 at No. 51.
While Sam Smith and Kim Petras’ “Unholy” didn’t make waves until the end of 2022, the track made a big splash and is now up for best pop duo/group performance, despite Petras being left out of the Grammys’ best new artist nominees.
